Event Manager

Introduction

The IT Event Manager module of EcoSystem Express enables users to better manage their IT Environment Operations through End-to-End Insights, Scheduling Calendar and Tracking Mechanisms.

Use Event Manager to mange your key operations, for example:

  • builds,
  • deployments / releases,
  • refreshes,
  • changes,
  • patches,
  • data transformation &
  • outages.

Module Navigation

In Enterprise this module has 3 key sub-trees Home + Reports + Management. Home is used for executive & activity dashboards, reports is insights focused and management is focused on adding/editing data specific to that module.

Note: Non-Enterprise editions have a flat (non tree structure).

Home

Event Dashboard

An executive dashboard providing an overarching view of your Events.

Default Enterprise Location: Event Management / Home

The dashboard is broken into 4 sections:

  1. Banner Buttons showing Event (& Batch) Headlines
  2. Current & Upcoming Events
  3. Current & Upcoming Batches
  4. Weekly Event Status (Trend)

Section-1 Event Headlines

“Banner Buttons” summarizing Total & Upcoming Events, Recently Passed Events, Recently Failed Events, Current & Upcoming Batches, Recently Passed Batches & Recently Failed Batches.

Usage

  • Banners are read only summaries.

Section-2 Recent & Upcoming Events

Shows any recent and upcoming events in the calendar. This is useful to know as it means we are prepared for environment activities and can more easily troubleshoot if problems start to appear (post event change).

Usage

  • Use Tabs to Toggle between Chart & Grid Views
  • In Charts, you can toggle information on and off (click on a box inside “key”)
  • In Grid Views, you can select a row and use “View” to deep dive into an Event.

Section-3 Recent & Upcoming Batches

Shows any recent and upcoming batch in the calendar. This is useful to know as it means we are prepared for batch activities and can more easily troubleshoot if problems start to appear (post batch).

Usage

  • In Grid Views, you can select a row and use “View” to deep dive into a Batch.

Section-4 Weekly Event Status

Shows event trend over time, including Open, Passed (successful) & Failed.

Usage

  • A read only chart.
  • You can show/hide information by clicking on “a Status Key” e.g. “Total Opened”

Event Activity

An executive event dashboard focused on events & batches.

Default Enterprise Location: Event Management / Home

Available in Enterprise Only.

The dashboard is broken into 2 sections:

  1. Executive Banner Buttons
  2. Table to view Selected Events (Planned Events, In-Progress Events,Planned Batches & In-Progress Batches).

Usage

  • Select “List” in a Banner Button to list objects
  • Select “Add” in a Banner Button to add a new object
  • View Object Information with the Editor (“View” Button).
  • If you only want to see activities belonging to you then use the “Green Button” (My Events) to filter.

Important! Information can also be added to EcoSystem Automatically via the Open API. This is particularly useful for data that is "fast moving" e.g. Status or Version details. Learn More 

Reports

Event Calendar

Track & communicate all your environment and release events on the Event Calendar.

Default Enterprise Location: Event Management / Reports

Note: The default calendar view is the year view (as above).  

Usage

  • Filter information you see (1)
  • Select perspective / calendar style (2)
  • Choose an Environment / Lane (3). Default is all.
  • Edit Event by clicking on an existing event (4). This will drop you into the Editor.
  • Add Event by clicking on “Add Event” button (5). This will launch window as follows:

Batch Calendar

Track & communicate all your Batch Activities across your chosen Environment.

Default Enterprise Location: Event Management / Reports

Usage

Project Events

Track all your events associated with a particular project.

Default Enterprise Location: Event Management / Reports

The dashboard has 3 key sections:

  1. Project Selection Area
  2. Project Event List
  3. Project (by Environment) Event Gantt

Usage

  • Select your projects
  • List Events attached to this project. Select an Event & choose “View” to deep dive
  • List Bookings. You can deep dive into booking by selecting Gantt Line on the right.

Batch Schedule

A report that shows batches assigned to Systems & Environments.

Default Enterprise Location: Events Management / Reports

Usage:

  • Choose System (1)
  • Choose Environment / Lane (2)
  • You can Deep Dive into a Batch Editor – Click on Batch Line Gantt (3)

Management

Manage Events

The “Manage Events” area inside the “Events Management” module is the key place for adding and managing your Event data.

  3. The “My EnvEvent” button

Usage

  • Use Banner Buttons “List EnvEvent” to update what is visible in the the Table (section-2) underneath.
  • Select “Add Event” in any Banner Button to add a new Event.
  • Select the “My EnvEvent” filter button to only show your events.
